Race for Ratings: Geo and Ary remained on top in the TRP rankings
Television Rating Points, commonly known as TRP’s, determine what TV channel was seen most during which slot. The ratings are recorded by media rating agencies. In Pakistan, however, only one such agency is working, named Kantar Media. These ratings are crucial for the survival and profitability of channels as they provide the basis for advertising tariffs.

A trend is seen in Pakistan that every channel claims to be either the 'No. 1 channel' or 'biggest News channel'. We at Daily Pakistan are determined to bring you the average ratings of different news channels each week, to give you an insight which program or channel is being watched the most.

This week's TRP race for 6 pm bulletin was won by Ary News. With 1.685 points Ary scored highest, while Geo secured 0.939 points on the TRP meter.

During the time slot, 7:00-8:00 pm, program anchors were battling for TRPs with the content they had to offer. In this time Ary was once again in the lead, followed closely by Geo. The Reporters by Ary secured 0.82 points on TRP table, Report card by Geo secured 0.583, Experts on Express gained 0.483 points, Nuqt-e-Nazar was fourth in the TRP race with 0.401 points and News Wise lagged a bit behind everyone with 0.22 points.

The time slot 8:00-9:00 pm is considered peak hour. Everyone is back home and wants to indulge in the hot debate on current issues. Capital Talk with Hamid Mir was the most watched show this week from 8:00-9:00 pm. Off the Record with Kashif Abbasi was the 2nd most watched and Takrar on Express was the 3rd most watched show this week from 8:00-9:00 pm

9:00-10:00 pm News Hour is most watched News Hour of the day. TRP suggests nothing beats the Geo News Hour. with 2.11 points on TRP table, Geo's news bulletin was most watched, followed by Ary and Express with 1.24 and 0.967 points respectively.

From 10:00-11:00 pm, most senior anchorpersons take up hot seats to debate on the hottest issues. At this hour, the battle isn't between the channels but between the anchors cum opinion leader. This week the competition remained tough between Shahzeb Khanzada and Kamran Khan.

The data shows a change of choice in public depending on the news program or news hour. However, by looking at data it's safe to say Geo and Ary remained the top two channels in TRP table. Stay tuned for this week's reveal.
