Four charged with molesting Emirati student at knifepoint in Dubai

DUBAI (Web Desk) – An 18-year-old Emirati student and his three friends on Wednesday faced charges for allegedly kidnapping a student and attempting to sexually assault him at knifepoint.

According to prosecution records, two of the accused grabbed the Emirati student so their accomplice could sexually assault him. The incident happened on May 10 last year.

One of the defendants is believed to have forced the victim to ride on his bike next to his other accomplice under the threat of stabbing him with a knife. They allegedly drove him to an alley between some residential buildings where their 24-year-old accomplice was waiting for them to assault the victim.

The 18-year-old Emirati and his friends – two Emiratis and a Comoros Islands passport holder, aged between 23 and 25 years – were charged with kidnap, attempted sodomy, sexual assault and criminal complicity in the Court of First Instance.

The victim said in the public prosecution investigation that he met two of the accused in the parking lot of a shopping centre in Al Warqa. His companion left him then and he was to go back home when the youngest of the defendants allegedly asked him to go with them. “He put a knife on my stomach and threatened to stab me if I did not ride with him on his bike,” he claimed.

They also allegedly snatched his mobile phone and the victim, who was scared for his life, rode with them. They stopped in an alley, where their accomplice met them and allegedly tried to lower the victim’s trousers.

Two of them grabbed him while the third got very close to him and kissed his neck.

They then took him to a house in Al Warqa 2. Before going in, the victim managed to call his mother and tell her about the incident and his whereabouts.

A few minutes later, his brother and three uncles reached the house. Two of the defendants walked into the house and came out with swords.

But they fled the scene shortly later as a police patrol car had arrived by then. The student’s uncle, 27, said he found his nephew crying when he reached the house.
