Rahat Fateh Ali Khan declares 2018 a year of Qawwali

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is set to pay a tribute to his ancestors by performing 100 shows around the world. 

 

Islamabad: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a renowned playback singer and specializes in qawwali. He is the nephew of the maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Rahat is set to perform 100 shows around the globe to pay a tribute to his ancestors who worked really hard to glorify this genre of music.

“I am basically a qawwal and the poetry of sufi saints runs in my veins. Qawwali is at the heart of our family traditions, and my ancestors have worked hard to develop this genre of music and introduce it to the world.”-Rahat F.A.K

The early life of Rahat shows his interest and passion in qawwali as he accompanied his uncle and father on different occasions when he was just three years old. He was trained by the maestro himself. He expresses how he and Qawwali are inseparable as it runs in his blood from generation to generation it has been passed onto him as a gift.

These concerts are to be held around the globe where he will be taking forward the legacy of his uncle by engaging and entertaining audiences from around the world such as United States, Canada, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Morocco, South Africa, Kenya, Nepal, Bangladesh, and of course, Pakistan.
