Swiss in Pakistan celebrate their 726th National Day

ISLAMABAD – The Embassy of Switzerland celebrated 726th National Day with the Swiss community in Pakistan on Monday.

While welcoming the guests,the Ambassador of Switzerland Marc P. George , thanked them for their presence and stated, “Almost 775,000 Swiss nationals around the globe make up the “Fifth Switzerland” – they all help to convey a picture of Switzerland as a modern country, open to the world and leading in innovation while holding fast to its traditional values.”

The national flags of Pakistan and Switzerland adorned the wall. The national anthems of both the countries were played followed by the message from the President of Switzerland, H.E. Doris Traditional Swiss Raclette, as well as savoury and sweet gastronomical delights, were offered to the guests on the occasion. The folk music from Switzerland kept this colourful event lively and entertaining.

Speaking about the bilateral relations, he added, “Pakistan and Switzerland enjoy exceptional relations for the last 70 years. The two countries are not only united by a series of bilateral agreements but also engage in regular political dialogues at the highest level.”

Switzerland and Pakistan signed a new double taxation agreement (DTA) with respect to taxes on income. It contains improvements with regard to the taxation of service fees and capital gains resulting from the sale of qualifying participation. These rules promote economic exchange in bilateral relations.-Online
