ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Reiterating the resolve to weed out terrorism, the country’s political and military leadership have agreed on stepping up operation against terrorists and their facilitators.
A high level meeting on law order situation was held here Friday, under Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, to review in details overall internal and external security situation, operation Zarb-e-Azb, targeted operation in Karachi and ongoing anti-terrorism operations across the country.
The meeting was attended by Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, finance minister Ishaq Dar, PM’s special assistant Tariq FatImi, DG ISI Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar and other senior officers.
The participants of the meeting expressed satisfaction over the outcome of Zarb-e-Azb, Rangers operation in Karachi and the National Action Plan.
The political and military leadership also strongly denounced the attack on a bus, carrying government employees, in Peshawar.
They vowed that no leniency would be shown to the terrorists and their facilitators, and Pakistan would be turned into cradle of peace at every cost.
Addressing the meeting, PM Nawaz said the military operation, Zarb-e-Azb, was yielding positive results. “Infrastructure of the terrorists has been dismantled and their net work has been destroyed due to operation Zarb-e-Azb.
“As elimination of terrorists is national resolve, we will wipe out terrorists from every corner of the country. War against terrorism will be taken to its logic end at every cost.”
The prime minister held that people were happy over Rangers operation in the port city which has been freed from a sense of fear. “It is the people and not us, who are admitting peace has been restored in Karachi.”
He further underlined that crime ratio had touched highest mark before the Karachi operation, and heinous crimes like target killings, extortion of money, kidnapping for ransom and massive killings have declined remarkably after targeted operation.
