Karachi operation to continue till complete restoration of law and order: President Mamnoon

KARACHI – President Mamnoon Hussain on Sunday reiterated the need for continuing the Karachi operation until the complete restoration of law and order in the troubled metropolis, while speaking at a laptop distribution ceremony held for students of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA).

The President said that through the National Action Plan, law and order throughout the country would be improved and made conducive for the national economy.

He said there was a need to utilize all the energies and resources for the education and training of youngsters in the country in order to brighten their future.

The President said the curriculum should formulated be in accordance with national needs as well as the aspirations and for this purpose, the government was taking necessary steps.

He pointed out that the future of the country was linked with the future of youngsters and those nations that ignored this objective or lagged behind in education, could not compete in the race for progress and development.

The President made it clear that there was no change in the route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and that one should not pay any heed towards any propaganda in this regard.

He said that with the completion of the CPEC, a large number of opportunities for Pakistani’s would emerge, for which youngsters should remain prepared.

He said that distribution of laptops and other academic projects would contribute towards academic excellence that would help cater future needs.

The President said that in the past the Kalabagh Dam project had become controversial but those at the helm of affairs at that time, did not come up with any other dam project which had caused loss to the country’s economy.

He said that the present government was implementing the right policies for the betterment of the country and the results of these were coming to the fore.

The President said that the country for the past decades has been facing challenges that include terrorism and extremism. The government was carrying out operation against terrorism and  extremism which was going ahead in a successful manner, he added. He said Operation Zarb-i-Azb and Karachi Operation were part  of this approach.

By the end of this year, the problem would be  overcome and there would be a marked difference in the law and order situation in the country, he added.

He said: “We will have to tackle the factors that give rise to tendency of extremism. Education is important to curb any  such tendency.” The President also emphasized the need for female education to help spur the process of development in the country.

On the occasion, he also distributed laptops among the students and congratulated the recipients.
