GILGIT – State Minister for Education Balighur Rehman said that the Holy Quran would be taught with translation to students till class 12, while addressing the two day 8th inter-province educational conference in Gilgit on Thursday.
The minister also said that new educational techniques would be inculcated in seminaries to make them at par with modern world.
“In addition, we will also introduce modern education in madrassas to meet modern-day requirements,” the federal minister said, while adding that seminaries had also agreed to this.
Balighur Rehman said the measures were part of the national education policy, which the government was trying to formulate in the best interest of the country. The minister added that the government would increase the Higher Education Commission budget.
“We have allocated 22% of our budget on education, which is the highest to be spent in this sector in the country,” he said.
