Common people shouldn t fear army courts: Ch Nisar

ISLAMABAD (Web desk) – Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday has said that the people of the country who do not have any connections with terrorism should not fear the establishment of military courts. He expressed these views while addressing the National Assembly. He said that the military courts are for a limited time period. The Pakistan Army is fighting terrorism for at least 12 years by operating within the Constitution. They have paid a heavy cost for limiting themselves within the Constitution, he added. The judges of the military courts are Pakistanis and God-fearing people, he added.
The Interior Minister said that the military courts are for terrorists and not to try civilians of the country. The people who do not have any connections with terrorism and terrorists should not be afraid of the military courts. The criminals are punished in the military courts on the basis of proofs, he added.
The cases would be investigated first and then sent to the military courts, he added. Nisar said that the military courts do not mean kangaroo courts. The military courts are against those terrorists who do not spare women and children even. Nisar Ali Khan said that terrorists were having verdicts of their choice by threatening the judges and officials of the security forces. Nobody would ever have thought that the military courts would become a part of the Constitution. United States of America (USA) also established military courts after the September 2011 attacks, he added. He said that more than 40,000 people have fallen prey to terrorism within few years while recently Peshawar attack killed over 143 people including mostly children.
