FBR rejects allegations about tax record

ISLAMABAD – Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has denied unfounded allegations leveled by a senior politician on electronic media regarding tampering of tax record of certain individuals whose names have appeared in Panama leaks.

In a statement, FBR said it considers the tax record of all taxpayers as a sacred trust and under section 216 of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 which bars the authority to disclose tax information of individuals.

The tax authority said there is no question of tampering with the record in any manner whatsoever. — APP
