Three killed as truck plows into department store in Sweden

STOCKHOLM – At least three people were killed on Friday when a truck plowed into an upscale Ahlens department store in the Swedish capital of Stockholm.

The death toll was conformed by Swedish radio adding that shots were also fired. The incident happened on the busy shopping street Drottninggatan and as per Fox News, one person has also been arrested in connection with the truck crash.

Swedish police said a number of people were also injured and they are treating it as terrorism. They also ordered evacuation of central train station.

Swedish prime minister Stefan Lofven also said everything pointed to it being “a terror attack” whereas Swedish intelligence agency said it was a deliberate attack.

“We are thinking of the dead and the injured and their families. I am urging the public to be vigilant and keep updating the police,” Lofven said.

A video uploaded on the internet shows horrific scenes as scores of pedestrians ran for their life after the attack.

The most recent attack in Stockholm was on Dec. 11, 2010, when an Iraqi-born Swede, Taimour Abdulwahab al-Abdaly, detonated two devices, including one that killed him, in central Stockholm.
