Unesco will initially launch the programme in Neelum Valley’s Gurace, Hatain Bala’s Banamula and Muzaffarabad’s Kayimanja and Saadpura union councils (UCs).

Expressing his gratitude, Raja Abbas assured the delegation of his full support and hoped that the initiative would prove a milestone for raising girl literacy in the area.

Khan said Unesco would provide stationary and lunch to primary girls students of the four UCs. Under the fund, boundary walls of vulnerable schools would also be constructed.

“The NGOs will get support to promote primary education and will be monitored by the education secretariat,” he said.

Khan added that in the first phase, the UCs would receive funds for three years.
