SIRTE (Web Desk) – The Islamic State associated militants have taken over the airport in Libyan city of Sirte, according to news reports.
Sirte is an ancient city located 450 kilometers east of Tripoli on the coast of Gulf of Sidra.
The government has confirmed the reports about seizure of airport at the hands of Islamic State.
Islamic State group had formally announced its presence in Libya during February this year.
