Chocolate Hero Waheed Murad remembered on 34th death anniversary

LAHORE – The 34th death anniversary of Pakistani “Chocolatey Hero”‚ producer and scriptwriter Waheed Murad is being observed today (Thursday) across the country and abroad as his fans and fun lovers remembered their hero whose work continues to be a favourite for them.

Waheed was born in Sialkot on October 2‚ 1938, his first cameo appearance was in Pakistani film ‘Saathi’ released in 1959, Murad in 1961 joined his father’s established as a producer of the film ‘Insaan Badalta Hai’. Armaan (1966) was his second film as a producer and one of its track ‘Ko Ko Korina’ still echoes in music circles.

1964’s film, ‘Heera Aur Pathar’ was his major breakthrough in Pakistani film industry and Waheed won best male actor award.

Waheed Murad acted in a total of 124 films of which 38 were black and white and 86 were coloured.

He received 32 prestigious film awards and in November 2010 he was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz for distinguished contributions in the fields of literature and arts.

Waheed Murad died on November 23, 1983, while he was working on his film ‘Hero’ in Lahore.

Many celebrities, government officials and his ardent fans are paying rich tribute to the legendary hero of Pakistan.
