Special match : Peshawar Zalmi organises first-of-its-kind event for differently-abled players

PESHAWAR – KP Zalmi beat FATA Zalmi in a wheelchair cricket match in Peshawar on Wednesday.
The first of its kind fixture was organized by Peshawar Zalmi – a Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise – through its social initiative of Peshawar Zalmi Foundation.

KP Zalmi won the toss and elected to bat first. The team scored 72 runs for the loss of three wickets in the allotted eight overs. In reply, FATA Zalmi managed to score only 60 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

The match was held at Peshawar’s Hayatabad Sports Complex. Students from schools and colleges in Peshawar were present at the venue to cheer the teams.

Javed Afridi, Chairman Peshawar Zalmi Foundation, on the occasion, said, “disability is not an obstacle to success and not an inability in any way, owing to this notion, we have staged splendid wheelchair cricket contest.”

Special persons have tremendous abilities and just need to provide them opportunities to grow in every field of life. “More matches will be organized in future,” Afridi added.
