The past few years the horror movie genre has brought us movies about haunted dolls and board games, which have been pretty traumatizing for our childhood, only to be further ruined by another childhood pastime getting the good old horror movie treatment.
Truth or Dare centers around a group of college students on a trip to Mexico where the main lead, played by Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) and her friends are deceived into playing a supernatural version of Truth or Dare. However it doesn’t stop there as the evil entity follows the unsuspecting teens back home and forces them to finish the game or be punished.
And by punish it means gruesome and inevitable death for anyone who tells a lie or refuses a dare. The movie set to be released in April 2018 also stars Tyler Posey (Teen wolf) and Violett Beane (The Flash) and is the latest from Blumhouse Productions who are also responsible for bringing us some big horror movie names in the past few years like Paranormal Activity, Sinister, and Get Out, to name a few.

The movie is reminiscent of a couple of horror flicks and reminds the viewer of a cross between Final Destination (since most of the deaths look like grisly accidents) and It Follows (since you can’t get rid of the game).
It falls into a lot of familiar yet classic horror movie tropes for example; the lead meets a mysterious person at a bar who passes on the curse to her and her friends before disappearing and leaving them to deal with the supernatural mess.
All in all Truth or Dare could be an interesting watch for anyone who enjoyed teen flicks like Unfriended or the Final Destination series, however the bug-eyed photobooth effects and the synopsis don’t really leave us wanting more.
