Shorts-wearing Pakistani youngster barred from entering private bank

KARACHI – A youngster in Pakistan’s port city was not allowed to enter a private bank because he was wearing shorts, that the bank’s security staff found inappropriate.

Babar Ali, a photographer by profession, video-graphed the incident that happened at First Microfinance Bank’s Landhi branch, and posted it on his Facebook profile.

In a 36 second clip, Ali can be seen being barred from entering the bank premises because of his shorts pants; he tried to convince the security guards but they insisted him to change his attire.

The security staff maintained that due to the presence of women inside the bank, the youth could not be allowed to enter.

Upon contacting, Ali told Daily Pakistan that this was the first time he was denied entry from any bank.

“I have been to many banks with this type of costume but never faced such reaction. I will try my best to lodge the complaint against this discrimination,” he vowed.
