Celebrate this year s Meethi Eid with these traditional delights

LAHORE- Eid ul-Fitr is just around the corner. This year, Eid is most likely to be celebrated on 15th June 2018. After the end of the Holy month of fasting, Muslims celebrate Eid with their family and friends.

After offering Eid prayers people sit together for the festive spread and enjoy eating delicious savories and sweetmeats. Eid ul-Fitr is also known as ‘Meethi Eid’.

1#Sheer Khurma:  A Meethi Eid means sweet vermicelli, which is prepared lavishly across Eid. Sheer, or sheer khurma, is a delicious milk pudding made with vermicelli, milk, date, and host of chunky nuts. Sheer khurma literally means “milk with dates” in Persian. It is generally savored first thing in the morning after the first namaz (prayer) of the day on Eid.

2#Phirni: Often dubbed as a close cousin of kheer, Phirni is typically milk thickened with rice flour and flavored with cardamom, saffron, rose water and topped with pistachios and nuts. Phirni uses ground rice rather than whole rice.

It is a prepared widely during Eid festivities and is traditionally served in clay vessels, clay plates.

3# Shahi Tukda: Made by frying small pieces of bread, dipped in condensed milk, and dry fruits and infused with a hint of cardamom, shahi tukda may safely be dubbed as one of best contribution to Subcontinent’s cuisine. Shahitukdaare a major part of Eid celebrations.

4#Meethi Seviyan:  One of the most popular desserts for Eid, the Meethi Sewai is basically, Vermicelli cooked in milk with dry fruits such as almonds and pistachios. These are easy to make and taste simply delicious!
