KARACHI: Episode 4 kicked off by announcing the theme for Episode 4 where the top 6 bands performed their original.
After introducing the judges, Ayesha Omar, the host for Pepsi BOB, invited the beautiful Sara Haider to the stage, who gave an energetic performance and wooed the crowd with her amazing vocals!
Kashmir: Kashmir played their original titled Budha Baba. Their cover performance of Mera Pyar last week was a hit and judges’ expectations were high. They loved the inventiveness of this song and Atif mentored Bilal on vocals.
Darvesh: Darvesh played Sadaye Darvesh which was characteristic of their Qawali Rock genre. The judges collectively liked the intro and gave tips on how the composition could’ve been improved. Shahi wants Darvesh to explore more depth in the lyrics.
Roots: Roots came on stage with their track, Khirkiyaan and gave an energetic performance. Fawad loved the arrangement and said it was his favorite song of the night. Meesha was happy that the vocalist took heed to the feedback that was given in the last episode. The judges thought that they had improved tremendously.
Madlock: Madlock played Kab Hoga and enjoyed playing the dark vibe of the song on stage. With some additions to the lyrics, Fawad thought they can keep the energetic grandeur of Madlock’s sound consistent. Shahi enjoyed the vocals thoroughly!
Jasim Haider & the Pindi Boys: Jasim & the Pindi Boys played the fun Korina and had the judges swinging to their groove! Shahi gave “full marks for creativity and confidence”. According to Meesha, they “sounded the most pro out of all the bands”.
Badnaam: Badnaam played Khawaja Ki Diwani and delved deep in Sufi vibes. Atif Aslam love the trio, specially Ahmed Jillani’s vocals. Fawad felt that with deeper lyrics they can improve cohesiveness in their music. Shahi loved the composition!
After the performances, the judges were faced with the dilemma to eliminate two bands.
They finally decided with a verdict and announced the four bands that moved forward in #PepsiBattleOfTheBands.
The two bands that got eliminated were Madlock and Darvesh while Kashmir, Badnaam, Roots and Jasim Haider & the Pindi Boys qualified for the next round.
