ISLAMABAD – People in Pakistan’s capital city Saturday got a rare chance to find the army chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, among them at a local hotel without being guarded by elite army commandos.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) arrived at the restaurant of an Islamabad hotel with his family without any security protocol for dinner. Gen Bajwa also met with the people in the restaurant.
Such movement of the top military commander is a clear sign of peace restoring in the country which has fought terrorism for decades.
It is for the first time in Pakistan that any serving army chief has a family dinner out without any security in the sight.
General Qamar Javed Bajwa took charge as the 16th Chief of Army Staff (COAS) on November 29, 2016.
The top general has an unprecedented role in the peace in the country. His tenure has seen return of long-gone cricket in the country in the shape of PSL Final, besides tours of international footballers and wrestlers to Pakistan.
