ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb and stalled peace process of Afghanistan.

The meeting, which is part of preparations ahead of Prime Minister’s visit to United States, was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and other military and civilian leadership.

During the meeting Nawaz Sharif was briefed about the newly prevailing situation in Afghanistan after the recent attacks of Taliban insurgents. The meeting also discussed the Afghan border and the reconciliation process in the country.

The internal security situation and ongoing operations against terrorism also came under discussion, according to a statement.
