ISLAMABAD – Video-sharing website YouTube has presented a Golden Play Button to Pakistan’s renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel on reaching 1 million subscribers on his official channel.
When a channel reaches a million subscribers, YouTube sends them a golden play button as a reward.
Maulana Tariq Jameel’s channel has become the first Islamic channel in Pakistan to receive this award.
However, this is not the first Pakistani YouTube channel to receive the golden play button. Earlier, YouTube channels Kitchen with Amna and P4Pakao also received the award upon hitting 1 million subscribers.
The religious scholar, who is globally famed for his scholarly debates and preaching of Islam, uploads his exclusive speeches on his YouTube channel which are widely watched by the people.

Maulana Tariq Jameel ranked No 40 on the list of the ‘World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims’, which describes him as a “prominent Deobandi scholar who is also one of the most popular preachers in Pakistan”.
“He belongs to the Tablighi Jamaat group and his lectures focus on the subject of self-purification, avoidance of violence, observance of Allah’s orders and pursuing the way of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him),” according to the Maulana’s profile on ‘The Muslim 500’.
