Interior ministry puts Hafiz Saeed, 37 JuD workers’ names on ECL, freezes assets

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior has placed the name of Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed and 38 others on the Exit Control List (ECL), besides freezing the assets of the organisation.

The ministry has sent a letter to all provincial governments and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in this regard. All of them were said to be affiliated with JuD.

The spokesperson said that India was using the name of Hafiz Saeed for political benefits, adding that India should provide evidence if it has any against the JuD chief. He further said that action has been taken against Saeed in line with the United Nations.

The authorities on Monday put Hafiz Saeed under house arrest along with four other individuals, namely as Abdullah Ubaid, Zafar Iqbal, Abdur Rehman Abid and Qazi Kashif Niaz.

The Ministry of Interior had “placed Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) and Jamaat-Ud-Dawa (JUD) on the Watch List as per UNSC 1267 Sanctions and have listed these organisations in the Second Schedule of the ATA 1997 (as amended).”
