Saudi Crown Prince branded Jamal Khashoggi as dangerous Islamist: report

WASHINGTON – Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman termed slain journalist Jamal Khashoggi as a dangerous Islamist in a phone call with US President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and national security adviser John Bolton, it has emerged.

According to a report by the Washington Post, the people familiar with the discussion have revealed that the 32-year-old prince had a telephonic conversation with top US officials before the kingdom publicly acknowledged Khashoggi’s death.

Moreover, the crown prince urged Kushner and Bolton to preserve the U.S.-Saudi alliance and said the journalist was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood – a group opposed by Bolton and other senior Trump officials.

A person familiar with the discussion said Bolton did not signal that he ratified the crown prince’s characterization of Khashoggi, however, a Saudi official denied that the crown prince made the allegations, negating such commentary.

On the other hand, Khashoggi’s family called the characterization of the columnist as a dangerous Islamist inaccurate.

‘Jamal Khashoggi was not a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. He denied such claims repeatedly over the past several years, he was not a dangerous person in any way possible. To claim otherwise would be ridiculous.’ stated the family in response to the report.

Jamal Khashoggi entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2 and then disappeared. After weeks of denial, the Oil-rich kingdom admitted that the journalist was left dead in a fistfight.

During a panel discussion, crown prince expressed that the incident that happened was very painful, for all Saudis and is not justifiable.

Turkish President Erdogan had confirmed that the murder of Khashoggi was pre-planned for which a team of hitman landed in Istanbul.

’15 members arrived in Turkey for killing Khashoggi,’ Erdogan told lawmakers in his rather blunt speech.

The Turkish leader expressed that the responsibility on Turkey increased owing to the fact that the killing took place on its land, saying Turkey would not stay silent on the issue.

Erdogan also revealed the chain of events that led to the killing of Washington Post journalist and claimed that the planning started on September 29th – three days before the killing took place.
