ISLAMABAD – Twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad saw chaotic scenes as authorities sealed red zone and barricaded key roads to block PTI protests, which are slated to be held on October 4 Friday.
As commuters in twin cities are facing issues with the closure of key roads, especially in Islamabad, students and parents are expecting a public holiday in schools in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on October 4.
Office-going people are also facing issues and are waiting for updates amid the protests. Officials have deployed containers throughout the twin cities to manage traffic and ensure public safety.
PTI Oct 4 Protest in Islamabad
With potential road closures expected to disrupt daily commutes, officials are considering a holiday to minimize the impact on residents.
Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) called for nationwide protests for judicial independence, including a demonstration at D-Chowk in Islamabad on October 4, despite a ban on gatherings.
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and other party members also warned about consequences if actions against PTI supporters continue.
Protests are also planned in Mianwali, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur, with another rally at Minar-i-Pakistan in Lahore on October 5. The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 to limit gatherings, creating a curfew-like atmosphere.
Despite these restrictions, PTI members have continued to protest, facing police resistance and reported arrests.
