ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department on Monday predicted that recent spate of monsoon rains would continue in the upper and central parts of the country in the current week, especially during the Eid holidays.
Rains and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds are expected in certain parts of Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), FATA and Kashmir from Wednesday to Friday.
There is also a high risk of flash flooding in hilly areas.
Additionally, tourist destinations like Murree, Galliyat, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Malakand, Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are expected to receive heavy rains during Eid that may set off landslides in vulnerable areas.
Tourists are suggested to stay abreast of weather updates, and National Disaster Management Authority and National Highway Authority advisories accordingly.
