Trump expected to sign revised travel ban order

WASHINGTON – U.S. President Donald Trump would sign a revised executive order regarding travel ban on several Middle Eastern and African countries and halting the nation’s refugee program on Monday, a senior White House official said.

Fox News quoted Counselor Kellyanne Conway as saying that Trump plans to put out the new order on Monday.

Amid confusion over the original step, Conway said the new version carries “six or seven” points that will clarify those areas. Among other changes, she said the new order will clearly remove legal permanent residents and Iraq from a list of countries on which a temporary travel ban was imposed. She also indicated the new version would no longer bar Syrian refugees for an indefinite time period.

The new order regarding travel ban follows a decision of the federal court that blocked the initial efforts of the president.

On January 28, Donald Trump signed an executive order putting a ban on entry of Muslims from seven countries and suspending the entire US refugee resettlement program.
