Turkey sacks 100 judges, prosecutor in anti-Gulen move

ISTANBUL – In a latest action against alleged supporters of preacher Fethullah Gulen, Turkey’s judicial authorities have ousted over 100 more judges and prosecutors.

The Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) said that 107 judges and prosecutors were being sacked who are reportedly followers of the alleged mastermind of the July 15 failed coup.

The ousted officials will face arrest warrant but it was not clear if any had been arrested so far.

Turkey accuses Gulen of masterminding the failed military coup to topple President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the last year.

According to Anadolu, 4,238 judges and prosecutors have been removed over alleged links to Gulen since the start of the state of emergency.

Some 47,000 people have been detained under the state of emergency imposed after the coup. Only last weekend, Turkey fired almost 4,000 public officials, besides suspending over 9,100 police officials.
