RIYADH – The Saudi Arabian authorities have arrested as many as nineteen people including 12 Pakistanis for their alleged involvement in Monday’s three bomb blasts which rocked Jeddah, Madina and Qatif.
According to a statement released by the Saudi Interior Ministry, the suicide bomber who killed four security officers near Masjid-i-Nabvi has also been identified as Naer Muslim Hamad. The 26-year-old man was a Saudi national with a history of drug abuse.
The statement also disclosed that three people had carried out attacks in Qatif. They were identified as Abdulrahman al-Omar, Ibrahim al-Omar and Abdulkarim al-Husni. Reportedly, none of them had Saudi nationality. Additional details on them were not provided.
The statement further said that a total of seven people had been killed in the attacks in Madina, Qatif and Jeddah.
While no terrorist groups has so far claimed responsibility for any of the attacks, the Middle East-based Islamic State is being treated as the suspect by Saudi Arabia and global observers.
