PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Traffic police will be equipped with body cameras.
The traffic police will use these cameras to record them at work – intercepting vehicles, collecting fines and registering FIRs. The recordings can be used as evidence in courts.
According to a handout issued by the KPK police, traffic wardens in Peshawar have already been equipped with these cameras and ordered to keep a record of their activities when dealing with people for future evidence.
“These cameras will force traffic police to act politely and responsibly when dealing with the public since they are often blamed for taking bribes and being harsh with the public,” said the handout.
Since body cameras are small and portable, these are expected to be highly useful for the police. It has been decided to equip regular police as well as traffic police with these devices across the province.
