KARBALA -At least 20 people were killed when a suicide bomber ripped through a market in the town of Musayyib, south of Baghdad, on Friday.
The death toll was confirmed by an interior ministry spokesman and according to police officials, at least 34 other people were wounded in the attack that wrecked havoc near Karbala.
A source at Musayyib hospital said at least four of the wounded were in very serious condition following the blast, which rocked the market at around 11:30 am (0830 GMT).
The blast rocked the war-torn country hours after an attack was apparently foiled at the Shiite shrine city of Karbala but it left four people injured.
Both attacks were claimed by the Islamic State jihadist group through its propaganda agency Amaq. ISIS also claimed responsibility for the attack at Iran’s parliament and Khomeini mausoleum.
