Not all heroes wear capes proved this guy from Lahore

Lahore. Everyday we see hundreds of children on the streets begging or cleaning cars for only RS. 10-20 when they should be studying in schools. This is a common sight for all the commuters and now most of them have become immune to the fact that the future of our country is struggling to survive every single day. Not all heroes wear capes proved a guy Hashim Kaleem from Lahore.

Kaleem was harassed by the police officers. His crime? He was happened to notice a child cleaning police response unit car for good 20 minutes though the car was clearly washed but the policemen kept asking the child to clean it, after which he decided to talk to the child if he was being paid for all the cleaning. The child replied with “no this is a sarkari car”. Kaleem took it upon himself to confront the officers politely, he explained the officers how the kids are already making too little for such work and they should be paid.

Three protectors of citizens flared, pushing and abusing Kaleem, saying things like “it is a crime to question police and that he was just a common person”. Sadly not realizing that they work for the citizens and they are answerable to every person regardless of their status. Kaleem ended up being in the jail and was kept there as the policemen snubbed him by saying they will file an FIR against him for attacking the policemen. All this went on for an hour until SHO came and listened to his side of the story.

SHO apologized to Kaleem and asked him if he had done A-levels. The question of SHO might sound strange yet simple but that’s how our authorities determine if the person is privileged enough. If people like Kaleem who are aware and educated are treated like this imagine how less privileged will be treated? Misuse of the authority and power they have is not a new story.
