LAHORE (Web Desk) – “Britain’s Charity Commission started investigation into three charities of PTI Chairman Imran Khan over fears for being used in financial fraud and money-laundering,” said a news report published by Government-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) with attribution to British newspaper Metro, however, the metro.co.uk never published such a story.
According to the contents of the news: “Money, raised in the name of education in Pakistan, was sent to Dubai for Imran Khan’s sisters and offshore investment,” and ” the NAMAL-2012 accounts were not submitted.”
The report, while quoted unnamed sources, further claimed that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz also plans to take this matter to the parliament, the National Assembly and the Senate, to seek an investigation into the charity funds raised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
It is also worth mentioning here that several Pakistani news organisations had also published the report originally produced by the APP, however, the original source from “London’s free paper” Metro does not seem to exist.
Meanwhile, another image circulating online also claimed to have asked the British Charity Commission about the alleged investigation against the PTI supremo. The screengrab of the email said that such reports are completely baseless.
