LAHORE – The PTI-led provincial government will establish a Sufi university in Punjab capital city to promote the teachings and education of the Sufi saints.
With an objective to promote the teachings and education of Sufism, this university would play a vital role in spreading the message of peace and love among all kinds of people.
Sahibzada Saeedul Hassan Shah, the provincial minister for Auqaf, told the media Wednesday that the government will also set up a Sufi Research Council, comprising of PhD scholars, in Lahore. This council would be tasked to translate the teachings of the Sufi saints into different languages.
Highlighting the Sufi message of peace, the minister said the saints taught the people the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah in their simple language.
He further informed the media that special measures are being taken to look after the shrines of Sufi saints across the province to provide better facilities to the visitors coming to seek solace.
Shah added that the shrine of Baba Fareediddin Ganj Shakar would be made model by the Punjab government while Baba Fareed Tower would also be constructed to facilitate the foreign visitors.
