42 more militants surrender in Quetta

QUETTA (Online) – At least 42 militants including key commanders affiliated with a banned organisation surrendered their arms, pledging their allegiance to the country.

A spokesperson for the Frontier Constabulary said on Saturday that the militants, belonging to a banned outfit and were active in Turbat, laid down their arms before Commissioner Makran and Commandant Makran Scouts. They vowed to shun violence and not fight against the state in the future.

The surrendering militants will receive Rs0.5 million to Rs1.5 million each and education, health and other facilities for their children under the Pur Aman (peaceful) Balochistan programme, the FC spokesperson said.

On Friday, about 400 rebel commanders from various areas of Balochistan also surrendered. Over 700 Baloch rebels have surrendered during the last two months.
