Traumatic: Hina Altaf s painful story breaks our heart into pieces

KARACHI – Mental-illness has been a taboo topic and even today people avoid talking about depression, anxiety, and traumas publicly. The fear of public opinion and stigma attached to the mental health is still so dominating, that we try to hide our problems instead of seeking help. Recently a leading model and TV artist has shared her life’s story on a TV show with legendary star Samina Peerzada.

Hina Altaf shared her tragic story and disclosed how her mother used to beat her mercilessly for being an actor and stopped her from working in the showbiz industry. Hina’s mother, who was schizophrenic, made her life miserable for making choices for herself. She also shared that how she used to hide her scars from the directors and makeup artists.

Candidly talking to Samina Peerzada Hina said, “Ever since I was born, my mother has been suffering from schizophrenia. She is a wonderful mother but after what she went through she couldn’t maintain a balance in her life. And this imbalance costed me my mental health.”

This interview wasn’t the first time Hina gave out a message about her troublesome relationship with her mother. Previously, she had posted a picture of herself on the Mother’s Day instead of her mother and people starting asking her questions regarding it.

After suffering from depression, she made her own life choices and took some tough decisions. Her tattoo of Alam signifies her troubles and the strength with which she overcame these issues.

She also spoke about here scenes in Uddari, “When I did the scene in Udaari where I was the witness and recalling what had happened to younger Zebo, I could relate to those dialogues because of what I have been through in my life”.

She concluded her story by saying that “I left my home because of my mother”.

Watching this interview gave us goosebumps and a realization that life is not a bed of roses and how one has to cop up with every situation for achieving the dreams and live freely. Hina Altaf is an example for all the girls out there who wish to lead a high spirit life.
