KARACHI (Web Desk) – A Station House Officer (SHO) was shot dead in a targeted attack despite anti-criminal crackdown by paramilitary Rangers and police, local media reported Thursday.
Police said SHO Preedy Aijaz Khawaja was going somewhere in his car when armed pillion riders intercepted him near Akhtar Colony on Main Korangi Road and fired shot on his vehicle.
Police and rescue officials said the SHO was fatally wounded and died on the spot before he could be shifted to hospital.
Following the broad daylight shooting, the attackers managed to flee as police arrived soon after the attack. They said the drive-by attack seemed to be an incident of target killing.
Aijaz Khawaja’s body was shifted to Jinnah hospital for postmortem.
