DHAKA – At least eight people were killed after a massive fire erupted at a slum area in Chittagong city in Bangladesh, the Radio Pakistan reported on Sunday.
The fire service department official has said that the devastating fire broke out at the Bhera Market Slum in Chattogram’s Chaktai area, adding that the fire broke out around 3:30 am.
He said that ‘eight bodies were recovered from the spot, including four of family,’ adding that more than 50 others got injured in the fire which gutted more than 200 slum houses.
The exact cause of the fire is not known immediately.
Chittagong is a large port city on the southeastern coast of Bangladesh.
