UPFRONT Magazine by Daily Pakistan interviews Khadija Zahid of Nina G Salon

DP: How did you start your business?

I started back in 2001, after taking professional facial training from Guinot Institute, Paris & Thalgo Institute. It’s been an adventurous journey since then, & I always had a keen eye for skin-care & makeup. I’m extremely lucky that I got to follow my passion!

DP: Tell us about your facial treatments.

Skin-types have unique attributes, and should be treated according to its need. I pamper my clients with my variety of facials: manual and machine-based both.

DP: How did you become a makeup artist?

My clients wanted a natural look along with their facials, so along with making them glow, I would do minimal make-up on their faces for a ‘cover up’ look, and they used to LOVE it! That got me on track for becoming an MUA also.

DP: What makeup trends do you suggest for the upcoming bridal season?!

I prefer ‘Natural’ over anything else, but I mostly follow international trends when it comes to bridal makeup. I prefer glowing foundations, because a bride should glow on her big day, rather than look like a cake!

DP: What products do you recommend to girls who are shopping for cosmetics before their wedding?

Take self-grooming classes, girls! Make-up enhances our features, however we NEED to KNOW what KIND of products suit our skin-types, our features, our complexion, etc. One shade lighter or darker is going to mess up the entire look.

DP: What would you describe as your daily make-up look?

In this humidity, I prefer applying ‘compact powder’ and ‘Kajal’, that’s it!

DP: 3 Things we don’t know about NINA G?

My REAL NAME is Khadija Khalid, haha! I love travelling & constantly learning, and I’m a dessert lover!

DP: A “PERFECT BRIDE” according to you is?

HERSELF! Natural and confident, for starters. I don’t like the layers and layers of make-up look on brides.

DP: What is your favourite makeup brand?

There are great products in a lot of brands: Bobbi Brown, Giorgio Armani and Estee Lauder are amongst my favourites. Mac is also great.

DP: Any advice for BRIDES TO BE?

Wedding preparations can be exhausting: I strongly advise girls to start proper skin-care regimes before their big day. At least three sittings of treatment facials, eat well and sleep well! Hydrate yourself, and have a great time mostly! Smile.

LOVING the advice from Khadija! Till next time, Make-up Lovers.
