Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca the holiest city for Muslims. The sexuality of a person can not define their faith and no one has the right to stop another person from their religious practices. It is a proud moment for all the Pakistani’s as for the first time in pakistan Transgenders will now be performing Hajj. At least three volunteers will be selected every year who will be accompanying more than 150 Boy Scouts who will serve as the Hajj Volunteers.

Blue Veins, a transgender welfare organisation, is coordinating with the IPC to connect and help Transgenders be a part of Hajj.

“At least two to three transgender persons will be selected from each of the remaining three provinces for joining the scouting community that leaves for Saudi Arabia every year,” said Boy Scout Commissioner Atif Amin Hussain

The volunteers have to undergo a physical training , a test after which names are shortlisted and sent to the Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs. This year this list include names of two- three Transgenders.

This will not only give Transgenders an opportunity to be a part of religiou activities but they will get acceptance, recognition, self confidence and independence. Such steps are taken so this community can thrive. New opportunities will be open for them and social acceptance is the foremost goal.

People are thrilled to hear this news:

Yes!!!

We are in for it:

Humanity first:

Proud moments:

Accepting people for who they are and supporting them for a good cause is what every religion teaches us. This is a very good initiative as begging on traffic signals is not the only job left for Transgenders.
