PM Imran comes out of 'VVIP plane' barefooted after reaching Madinah

ISLAMABAD - A video circulating on social media shows barefoot Prime Minister Imran Khan coming out of a special VVIP plane after landing in Madinah, in a show of respect for the holy land.

The prime minister along with his team comprising Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar and others reached Saudi Arabi on his first official foreign tour using a special plane, quashing his own austerity claims.

Governor Madinah Al-Munawarah, Prince Faisal Bin Salman received the Prime Minister on the airport.

As he reached the Madinah airport, the prime minister was seen without wearing shoes when he emerged from the plane. He was also spotted without shoes when he held a meeting with Prince Faisal Bin Salman.

Earlier, Khan was seen barefoot when he reached Madinah along with his wife Bushra Imran before the July 25 elections.

After his act garnered the attention of the public, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief said, “Yes, I arrived barefoot in Saudi Arabia in respect of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).”
