CurlPower: Time to say goodbye to your obsession with straight hair

LAHORE- No matter what the hair trend, Pakistani’s will continue to obsess over dead straight hair forever. Straight hair just happens to be magical for all sorts of reasons!

According to a poll conducted, a few years ago, by Gallup Pakistan, straight hair continues to be a favourite with Pakistani men and women. Results showed 55 per cent of respondents said they liked straight hair, with only 19 per cent in favour of curly hair.

The reason being that maintaining curly hair can sometimes be a bit of a pain. It often happens that curly hair tends to lose its moisture quickly and becomes frizzy. Many women are unable to care for their messy manes, and as a result, start resenting their curly locks.

Hair straightening treatments are one of the top requests made at salons in Pakistan. Most editorial shoots and runway styling in Pakistan feature models with poker-straight hair; however, in the past year or so, there has been a shift.

Women who sought Brazilian blow-outs and Keratin treatments to tame their natural hair are starting to embrace their bouncy curls and it’s about time.

Natural curls are a blessing, pop diva Annie Khalid has rocked her curls with poise, and now she’s helping others do the same.

Annie has got you covered with her new hair care line for curly hair. Her product line is called Curl PWR. It offers hair oil, shampoo, conditioner and a curl defining cream. These products are paraben and sulphate free. Moreover, they control frizz and maintain volume to keep your locks healthy, bouncy and well-kept.

Talking to a local publication, Annie said, “Seeing the young women in Pakistan, I see that they really need encouragement and awareness about how to maintain and embrace their natural hair. Hopefully, I can inspire desi girls to take care of their hair and realise their true curl potential.”

For everyone with curls, its time to embrace them. Deeply nourished ringlets and shaggy curl cuts are big this year! Long, layered curls with texture and volume are definitely going to be the top priority.
