Pakistan against arms race in region, says PM Nawaz

KARACHI – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan was against arms race in the region.

The premier after inaugurating the IDEAS 2016 exhibition in Karachi expressed that Pakistan has best business investment opportunities for foreign investors.

He said that energy crisis had largely been overcome in the country adding that international institutions were acknowledging improvement in Pakistan’s economic indicators.

He went on to claim that law and order situation in the country had improved over the past few years adding that the government was paying special attention towards the social sector and is investing in development of the defence industry.

“There has been no electricity load shedding in the industrial sector for 12 months,” he said.

“Pakistan offers vast opportunities for profitable investment,” he said, adding that the country’s environment is favourable for investment and the government wants to encourage the private sector.

Cheif Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif along with many other senior officials were present during the IDEAS event that is being arranged by Defense Export and Promotion Organization under the theme of “Arms for Peace.”

Both Prime Minister and COAS visited different stalls reaffirming that Pakistan’s defence products were state of art and fully tested by army.

A total of 418 companies from 34 countries including 157 Pakistani firms will showcase their products in this mega defence event. The exhibition would conclude on Friday.
