HYDERABAD – The story of a missing medical student, Noureen Jabbar, took a new twist with police claims that she was not kidnapped as she was seen traveling to Lahore in a video footage of a passenger bus.
Noureen Jabbar, a student of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), disappeared on February 10. The police registered an initial report on the same day and the FIR on February 25 on the complaint of her father, Prof Abdul Jabbar Laghari.
Police claimed that Noureen has been watched in the video, filmed by the administration of the travel company, sitting at a seat No 12, adding that she covered her face when official moved the camera towards her for recording.
It is worth mentioning here that police are still failed to trace the missing student after claiming that she was not abducted.
Earlier, Hyderabad SSP Irfan Baloch claimed that the police have reasons to believe that she was a religious extremist inspired by terrorist outfits.
“We have investigated … talked to her friends and teachers. She came in contact with a terrorist organisation on Facebook. Facebook also blocked her accounts because of extremist content,” the SSP added.
On the other hand, Prof Laghari had denied that his daughter nurtured extremist tendencies. “She offered namaz and wore the hijab. But a majority of female students at SU and LUMHS wear hijab. Does that mean they all have joined Da’ish?” he questioned.
