BLA chief Harbiyar Marri among 13 booked for Chinese consulate attack

KARACHI – The Sindh police’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday booked Harbiyar Marri, a fugitive leader of the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), and his 12 aides for Chinese Consulate attack in Karachi.

Three terrorists of the banned group carried out the attack on Friday in which two policemen and two civilians lost their lives. The attempt was successfully foiled by security forces as the assailants were killed before breaking into the compound.

Police officials say the Indian spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) was behind the attack, adding that it was a failed attempt against strengthening ties between Pakistan and China.

The case has been registered through Boat Basin police station’s SHO on behalf of the stated under various charges of terrorism, killing, etc, stating that the separatist banned group has accepted responsibility for the attack and also issued the pictures and names of the killed militants.

“The BLA is supported by Indian spy agency RAW,” said the application submitted by the SHO for FIR.

The booked facilitators and masterminds of the terror bid include Harbiyar Marri, Aslam alias ‘Acchu’, Bashir Zeb, Noor Bux Mengal, Karim Marri, Capt Rehman Gul, Nisar, Gaindi, Sheikhu, Sharif, Hamal, Munshi and Agha Sherdil, Dawn News reported

The attackers were in continuous touch with the booked persons, the FIR said.

According to previous media reports, Achu was killed in an operation by the security officials but today the provincial government said that the alleged mastermind of the attack is alive.

Some reports claim the said militant is being treated at an Indian Hospital, showing the links between BLA militants and India.
