ISLAMABAD TAL/AVIV – Former JUI leader Maulana Ajmal Qadri, has claimed that ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had sent him to Israel normalisation of ties with the Jewish state.
Qadri did not specify the exact year he visited Israel but is said to be during Nawaz’s second era as prime minister.
He said that Tel Aviv officials meet them at their hotel where they had a discussion on bilateral trade and other affairs.
They wanted that Pakistan should not link normalization of political and diplomatic relations with Israel to the Palestine issue, he added.
The former JUI leader said he told the Tel Aviv officials that Pakistan cannot have any relationship with Israel until we have ‘assurances about the Palestine conflict’.

Qadri also mentioned that he met then PM Nawaz Sharif twice after his visit to Israel. I found Nawaz “very passionate” to develop a relationship with Israel.
Sharif was eager on developing ties with Israel but the issue was pushed away due to the political circumstances.
Earlier, Israeli media reported that a Pakistani delegation has twice visited them in the tenure of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
