Facebook Lite promises to save data, which is a boon for 2G and EDGE networks in developing countries.
The data-sipping nature also makes for faster loading and performance, with the app experience feeling “snappier” than its big brother.
However, the app’s size is also notable, weighing in at 252KBs compared to roughly 25MBs for the normal Facebook app.
Currently the app has been launched in Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.
