Gwyneth Paltrow says she fought postpartum depression after being in a very ‘dark place’ without any medicines opting for an alternative way. The 46 year old actress said in her goop podcast on Tuesday that while ‘antidepressants are lifesavers for certain people, for sure’ however she was not interested in taking help of medication.
She fought with depression after her son Moses was born with Ex husband Chris Martin in 2006. She explained ‘I had postnatal depression as you know after my son, a doctor tried putting me on antidepressants and I thought if I need them, then yes, I’ll come back to it.’ She told that she really broke out of it after making a list of life changes that could impact for the better.
Mother of two Moses and Apple (who is now 14 with the Coldplay Rocker) said she asked herself ‘what if I went to therapy and start exercising again, and I stopped drinking alcohol and I just gave myself a period of regeneration and I slept more?’ Actress got out of the depression by bringing change in her lifestyle. Sadly this issue is never addressed in other parts of the world leaving new mothers suffering for years.
