Avengers star, Gwyneth Paltrow is breaking all the stigma attached to postpartum depression which women avoid talking about. After giving birth almost every female suffers from postpartum depression and this is ignored by many. 45 year old actress explained on Goop podcast how she never thought she’d have to face this.

“I had terrible postnatal depression. It was really shocking to me as I never thought I would be a person who got postnatal depression.”
This is not the first time actress has talked about postnatal depression as the Goop leader wrote about it on her website in 2010. She described this 5 month long depression to be the darkest time of her life. She said she “really went into a dark place.” She explained how she felt like a zombie.

She told how she had a lot of misconceptions about the whole situation and how the hardest part for her was acknowledging the problem. She thought postpartum depression was You sobbing everyday and were unable to take care of your child but there is more to it, different shades and depth. She stated how “I felt like a failure.”

lastly she talks about how she was not the worst case or else she would’ve been hospitalized. She recovered by seeking help which included exercise and therapy, which she isn’t ashamed of. She still saw the silver lining by being happy about the situation as she could deal with the underlying problems she wouldn’t have seen otherwise.
