Gen. Raheel Sharif phones PM Nawaz, discuss situation at LoC

ISLAMABAD – Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on Thursday talked to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on phone about a situation with India over Line of control (LOC), sources said.

“The prime minister and Gen Raheel Sharif had a telephonic conversation in which Gen. Raheel apprised the premier over the firing incidents at the LoC”, a source at PM House said.

“The COAS told PM Nawaz that Indian claims of surgical strikes are baseless”, the source added.

The Premier, during the conversation, said the entire nation had high morale and was committed to defending the motherland along with the armed forces.

Earlier, PM Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned unprovoked and naked aggression of Indian forces along the LoC and declared that Pakistan’s valiant armed forces are fully capable of defending the territorial integrity of the country.

The PM paid rich tributes to jawans who have been martyred during unprovoked firing by Indian forces.
