LAHORE – 15 year old Uzma was mistreated by her employers who then threw her in a watercourse when she was no longer alive.
House owner Mahrukh was arrested by Iqbal Town police after the postmortem report of Uzma, 16-year-old maid who belonged to Thokar Niaz Baig area, indicated that she had injuries on chest and face.
Uzma had been working as a maid at Mahrukh’s house in Iqbal Town for the last eight months.
The family and relatives of the girl took the body and kept it on the motorway to register their protest. They alleged that Uzma’s employers had tortured her to death and disposed of the body in the drain to make it look like an accidental death.
Social media wants justice.
The practice is not uncommon. In January 2016, a professor in Lahore’s Defence area, a place where the rich, educated and affluent class reside, brutally tortured and sexually assaulted his 15-year-old maid. In the same month, residents of Askari-9 in Lahore had tortured a 10-year-old girl to death. The girl was tied with ropes and was beaten to death with a plastic pipe.
